FENIX: A European FEderated Network of Information eXchange in Logistics.

Description of the Project

FENIX Project develops the first European federated architecture for the exchange of data for the European logistics community of carriers, logistics service providers, mobility infrastructure providers, cities and authorities to improve the communication between different operators using any existing platform and/or future platforms.

The FENIX concept is based on the idea of a cloud-based technology that will enhance horizontal collaboration, optimized routing and dynamic re-routing through plug-and-play solutions for Supply Chain planning and operations. The ultimate goal is a set of integrated services that exploit Big Data transmissions in real-time to gain awareness and visibility and it will be delivered from the cloud-as-a-service. These services will be based on accurate and reliable information flows and event notifications based on standards and based on public-private governance.

FENIX will also exploit the Internet of Things (IoT), satellite navigation and retrospective historical data, taking advantage of automated processes and intelligent algorithms to identify opportunities for enhanced routes, customization of cargo route combinations and optimization of delivery schedules.

Industrial Partners

Indra's Role

Indra is the leader of the Spanish pilot in collaboration with the Port Authority of Bilbao, ATOS SPAIN and Association of Mobility and Logistics Cluster of Euskadi. Indra will develop a solution that will be enhance the communication between different transport operators. The objective is to digitize the communication among the different actors in the process. This platform will communicate with the federation FENIX, which will allow the exchange of information mainly with other ports of the federation.

Indra contributes to the deployment of intelligent road systems, helps to optimize the integration and interconnection of different modes of transport, thus promoting interoperability in transport services while improving the accessibility of the different infrastructures.
