Indra will deploy a communications channel for information exchange regarding illegal inmigration

Indra will develop the Sea Horse Network for the Guardia Civil and the police forces of the above-mentioned countries
Indra, the premier IT company in Spain and a leading IT multinational in Europe, was awarded a contract with the Ministry of the Interior to deploy the Sea Horse Network system. It consists of a satellite communications network which will allow control and secure information exchange regarding illegal immigration and drug trafficking between South Atlantic countries, specifically Spain, Portugal, Mauritania, Senegal and Cape Verde. The project amounts to euros 1.8M and is to be concluded within a year.
The Sea Horse Network, a pioneer system in the struggle against illegal immigration, will be developed for the Guardia Civil and for the police forces of the countries involved. There will be a centre in each country and a coordination centre in Gran Canaria. All of them will be connected to a secure information exchange network through satellite and will be able to transmit data and voice info in real time.
The system will help improve cooperation in the field of illegal immigration and drug trafficking between Spain, Portugal and North African countries by distributing information about immigration flows, location of suspicious ships, rescue coordination and interception of illegal ships.
Every centre will be equipped with control decks that will provide the police forces of each country with a global vision of the current status of their borders, thus allowing immediate information updates.
The Sea Horse Network will integrate external information systems, such as the SIVE maritime surveillance system or the automatic identification system (AIS) to facilitate viewing threats geographically in real time.
Besides this, the modular design of the solution will allow further exportation to other countries, either European or African. The Sea Horse network is a step towards an international information exchange that will improve relationships and cooperation between countries in areas other than illegal immigration and drug trafficking.
