IndraMind protects and streamlines digital procedures involving citizens and the Social Security with its video identification and electronic signature system
GISS, the Spanish Social Security IT Office, has incorporated IndraMind Cybersecurity’s biometric video identification and electronic signature technology into its digital services to make it easier for citizens to manage fully online procedures that require remote verification of their identity

IndraMind Cybersecurity, the cybersecurity unit of IndraMind (Indra Group), has provided the GISS, the Spanish social security office, with an advanced telematic identity verification system to enable citizens to access the government’s digital services and complete fully online procedures that require their remote identification. The service will also guarantee regulatory compliance and protect the parties from potential fraud.
For this purpose, Social Security has integrated the biometric video identification and electronic signature technology of the Group’s cybersecurity unit into its web environment and mobile applications, for “all the proprietary products and developments that reflect the public sector’s commitment to technological sovereignty for its digitalization and protection, an ongoing process that’s crucial to guaranteeing greater autonomy, control of digital assets and resilience in the face of external threats”, according to Roberto Espina, global cybersecurity officer at IndraMind.
The video service for secure administrative procedures, mobile applications to provide certificate of life for pensioners abroad and access to the Social Security’s electronic office are the services that will be supported by IndraMind Cybersecurity’s cloudsolution, “in order to make the relationship with users who can only perform these procedures remotely even more dynamic, delivering flexibility, simplicity and security throughout the process, besides enabling our administration to move towards the complete digitalization of public services”, declared Santiago Rodríguez, director of the Information Security Center of the GISS.
To facilitate citizens’ electronic access to these services, the GISS required the deployment of a solution to streamline and, at the same time, protect the process and their data in procedures requiring remote verification of their identity. To do so, the company combined the digital onboarding solution with video identification - a biometry-based registration process involving facial recognition and proof of life, and validation of identity documents using advanced AI techniques - with IndraMind Cybersecurity’s single-use certificate-based electronic signature and Mobbeel, its company specializing in identity verification. As Espina explains, “users will thus be able to complete the entire process online, from remotely verifying their identity to accepting the consents and information and, finally, signing documents with full legal validity.”
As for Santiago Rodríguez of the GISS, he states that “it’s a system which we expect to provide a service to millions of citizens via our website and mobile app both securely and intuitively, from any device and location and without the need to travel to prove that they are who they say they are.” In this regard, the administration will also provide them with 24/7 service, greater convenience and accessibility throughout the process, doing away with waiting times at physical offices.
According to a recent UN study, Spain ranks 17th in digital administration among the 193 countries analyzed and tenth in Europe, with the the availability of its services classified as “good”. Through this initiative, IndraMind Cybersecurity will enable the entity to securely further the digital transformation of its activity and help improve the public services. IndraMind’s cybersecurity unit employs over 2,000 specialized professionals, more than 400 of whom are experts in the field and responsible for the fact that 150 million documents in the public administration and private sector are electronically signed each year, chiefly in Europe and Latin America.
